Don't Let Water Stay Stagnant

Mitigation companies talk about how water damage typically gets worse and worse if left untreated, but what exactly does that mean? How can damage that’s already so bad get any worse? For starters, water damage is not like fire damage. Once a fire is completely put out, the damage is what it is (in most cases). When water soaks into your floor or floods your home, it continues to deteriorate whatever it is touching. Even if you think that you’ve sucked up all the water and your carpet is dry, there is mostly likely trace amounts of water keeping your foundation damp and causing further issues underneath your home.
If left untreated, water can lead to mold and mildew growth. This is an entirely different kind of damage that can lead to major health effects and needs to be removed by separate means. Additionally, as water stays stagnant in an area and continues to dilapidate your foundation, it can make parts of your home unstable and unsafe. Rotted wood is not stable and as we all know, water can very easily cause wood to rot.
