You have a sub pump so you're safe, right?!
Even thought you have a sub pump it doesn't mean your safe from flooding.
Even sub pumps can fail. Even with regular care they can fail but the odds are in your favor if you take the time for maintenance . I know you're rolling your eyes. Just another thing to take care of. You will wish you had though if something goes wrong. The pictures above shows a sub pump failure. We can't always avoid this but we should at least try.
At the very least, follow these maintenance tips once per year. Quarterly maintenance is probably better.
- Vinegar can be run through the sump pump in order to clean it
- The pump will become free from tiny particles and debris which will allow the pump to run much cleaner
- This can be done by the homeowner and unless there is a serious problem, then you may need to call a professional.
- Make sure the sump pump’s float switch is not restricted in any way. If it is, it will cause the sump pump to not automatically kick on in case of a flood
- Lastly, clean all vents and air holes for maximum effectiveness
That's not too bad right?
